CMS releases Quality Payment Program final rule: What SNE-PTN providers should know

October 21, 2016 - 10:00am EDT

On Friday, Oct. 14, the final Quality Payment Program (QPP) rule was released by CMS. QPP is part of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA). Included in the release was a helpful QPP website which we encourage you to explore.

This QPP release outlines two tracks practices can choose, which providers are eligible to participate and the program timeline. It also allows you to browse the different measures and activities that you will be asked to report on by CMS.

It is important to note that for Calendar Year 2017, CMS has implemented “Pick Your Pace,” which gives you four choices about how you will participate in QPP:

  1. Do not participate and receive a 4 percent reduction in CMS payments in 2019.
  2. Submit some data and avoid a CMS payment reduction in 2019.
  3. Submit a partial year (90 days of data) and you may avoid a payment reduction or qualify for a small payment increase in 2019.
  4. Submit a full year of data and you may qualify for an additional payment increase in 2019.

For those looking for more information, please consider signing up for the Quality Payment Program Final Rule webinar hosted by CMS on Tuesday, Nov. 15 from 1:30-3 p.m. ET. We will keep you updated in our newsletter and send out breaking news as we receive it.

Thank you for being part of SNE-PTN.  We look forward to continuing our work with you and your practice.
